An event tomorrow will bring a panel together to discuss addiction in the community and possible treatments.
The Discover Recovery program will take place at BC3’s Founder Hall from 8:30 -11 a.m.
A presentation by Dr. C. Thomas Brophy, who is the medical director of the Ellen O’Brien Gaiser Center, will start the session.
“We have seen climbing numbers of substance abuse across the board,” Brophy, who is also certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties as an addiction medicine physician, said.
Dr. Brophy will then moderate a large panel of community leaders that includes Dr. Brian White of the Butler School District, Joseph DeMore of the county prison, and more.
The symposium is designed so guests can hear from local leaders about what is happening in our area. It’s estimated that an average of 55 people have died from an overdose each year in Butler County over the last three years.
The event is free and open to the public.
