The North Catholic girl’s basketball team won the WPIAL Class 4A championship with a 51-35 victory over Blackhawk. The title was the 11th for head coach Molly Rottman tying her for the most in WPIAL history with Don Barth, who happened to be Rottman’s coach when she played for North Catholic. The Lady Trojans will host Conneaut to open the PIAA playoffs Saturday afternoon.
The North Catholic boys fell to Lincoln Park 78-68 in the Class 4A championship game Friday. The Trojans will host Hickory Friday in the opening round of the state playoffs.
The Central Catholic boys defeated New Castle 61-52 in the WPIAL Class 6A title game.
Redbank Valley defeated Moniteau 61-35 Saturday to win the District 9 Class 2A championship. The Lady Warriors will host Lakeview in the opening round of the PIAA tournament Friday.
The Karns City girls will host Shady Side Academy Friday in the PIAA Class 3A First Round.
The Karns City boys will travel to Aliquippa Saturday in the Class 2A First Round.
The Grove City boys won their first District 10 championship since 1999 with a 47-40 win over Hickory Friday. The Eagles will open the PIAA tournament when they host Hampton Friday.
The Knoch girls will travel to Punxsutawney Saturday in the PIAA Class 4A First Round. Tip-off is set for 3pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 2:45pm.
The Mars boys travel to Lancaster to face Manheim Central in the Class 5A First Round Friday.
