State officials say they are cracking down on public assistance fraud.
The state’s inspector general office reported the arrests of 52 people on public assistance fraud in January. The individuals took nearly $350,000 in SNAP, Cash Assistance, or Subsidized Day Care funds they were not entitled to.
If convicted, the individuals could face up to seven years in prison and a fine up to $15,000.
