The San Francisco Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 14-4 on Memorial Day. Pirates starting pitcher Rich Hill allowed six earned runs on nine hits in his six innings of work. Cody Bolton entered the game in the seventh inning and allowed eight earned runs in relief of Hill.
Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski hit two home runs into the water outside of the San Francisco stadium. He joins former Pirate Barry Bonds as the only players to hit home runs into McCovey Cove twice in a game. Bonds did it two times as a member of the Giants in 2000 and 2002.
They play in San Francisco again tonight at 9:45pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 9:20pm.
The Bucs have now fallen under the .500 mark for the season for the first time since April 2nd. They have yet to win a series in the month of May, and have lost 19 of their last 25 games.
