Local Congressman Mike Kelly joined the majority last night in voting for the deal to raise the debt ceiling.
Kelly, who represents the 16th Congressional District, said “this bill will continue to pay the bills of America” and called it a win for the people of Western Pennsylvania.
The Republican also said the bill stops “out of control inflationary spending.” He encourages Congress to continue to deal with federal spending.
“Moving forward, it’s incredibly important that both Congress and the Biden administration curb this out-of-control spending and lower our national debt, which is now nearly $32 trillion. Our national debt is a threat to our national security. No business could survive spending money the way the federal government does,” Kelly said in a statement.
The bill now moves to the U.S. Senate.
