A local student is among the 12 winners announced in a statewide art contest.
Adam D’Biagio placed second in the fifth and sixth place category of the PA Departments of Health, Education, Environmental Protection, and Conservation and Natural Resources How to Prevent a Tick Bite Lyme Art Contest.
The goal of the contest is to raise awareness about this disease since ticks are very common across the state. Projects focused on responsible care where ticks are found or precautions available to deter bites like covering exposed skin and using EPA-approved insect repellent.
“When you’re outside you want to cover your exposed skin. You also want to wear light colored clothes so you can see the tiny ticks on your clothes. You want to use EPA approved insect repellent,” Bogan said.
She also added to check your pets for ticks after they’ve been outside.
Winners were notified last month by mail and received an invitation to the award ceremony in Harrisburg. Winning entries will be on display in the state Capitol Building near the Senate Fountain area and cafeteria through June 22nd.
