Pennsylvania State Police is launching a pilot program that officials hope will help the department be ready to implement body cameras.
The initiative will assign the cameras to Troop H in Carlisle. Leaders of the state police say the 60-day trial run will allow the department to determine best practices and policies for troopers to wear the camera.
Following the initial run, its expected that police will outfit all 87 patrol stations with body-worn cameras.
The police commissioner says that using the cameras “demonstrates that the State Police is committed to providing faithful and honest law enforcement services.”
