Gas prices have increased slightly locally while decreasing slightly across western Pennsylvania as a whole this week.

The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by two cents over the same period of time to reach $3.89. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.61, while the most expensive is in Mercer and Warren at $4.00.
The average national gas price rose by three cents over the past week to hit $3.85. This is 29 cents more than a month ago but still 10 cents less than one year ago. Both demand for gas and the price of oil increased with market optimism causing a barrel to sell for just over $80 which is the highest it has been since the middle of April.
