The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Kansas City Royals 6-3 last night. The Bucs came back from a 1-0 deficit, scoring all six runs in the final two innings. Ke’Bryan Hayes gave the Pirates the lead with a two-run home run in the eighth. Liover Peguero hit a three-run shot in the ninth.
Reliever Luis Ortiz earned the victory with five innings, allowing one run.
The Bucs and Royals complete their three-game series tonight at 8:10pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:45pm.
The Pirates travel to St. Louis for a three-game series beginning Friday night.
