Butler County Republicans recently canceled a committee meeting due to protests from its own party members.
The State Party Republicans scheduled a “reorganization meeting” to settle who would become the local party’s chairman after a conflict was raised against Gary Vanasdale. Vanasdale was running his wife’s Jen Gilliland Vanasdale independent bid for Butler County District Attorney.
In response to the last-minute cancelation Gary Vanasdale released a statement calling the meeting a “Puppet Show.” The release also claims the meeting that had been scheduled was to “seat establishment old-guard puppets at the helm of the committee.”
Vanasdale was elected as committee Chairman in July 2022. There are currently no plans for another meeting.
