Police who were working the Freeport Christmas Parade are providing more information after a man was driving recklessly near the event.
The incident happened this past Saturday night around 5:20 p.m. during the “Small Town Christmas” event in Freeport. The Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department said in a statement that they were alerted to a driver in a blue sedan that was driving recklessly on Riverside Drive.
Police say the man nearly hit parade-goers at the gazebo in that location.
Police then heard the car speeding by and blaring his horn. An officer tried to stop the vehicle, however he continued to flee police onto Route 128.
Soon, the driver came to a stop on a side street. Police then told the man he was under arrest; however, he did not comply which led police to use a taser.
He was not injured by the taser according to police and was taken into custody.
