Drew Griffith from Butler high school won the Footlocker Cross Country National Championship Saturday in San Diego, California. Griffith ran the course in a time of 15:09 and finished ahead of another Pennsylvania runner – Ryan Pajak of Ringgold. Pajak had taken first place over runner-up Griffith in the Northeast Regional in Boston two weeks ago. Drew Griffith led the field of 39 qualifiers to become the first boys runner from Pennsylvania in the 44 year history of the race to be crowned the national champion, and also the first Cross Country runner from Butler high school to do so.
