Peoples Natural Gas is petitioning the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to allow a proposed rate increase.
The People’s request would increase its operating revenues by approximately $156 million per year.
Under the request Peoples Natural Gas Division residential customers would see an average increase of just over 21% from just over $73 a month to nearly $89 while Peoples Gas Division residential customers would see an average increase of nearly 8% from about $84 a month to just over $90.
Peoples Gas provides service to more than 625,000 residents and businesses in Pittsburgh and surrounding counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. Peoples previously received PUC approval for a reduced 9% rate increase of $60 million per year in 2019.
