Governor Josh Shapiro is expected to make a push for big changes and financial aid for higher education in his next budget address.
While the governor has not provided specific details, the AP reports that Shapiro will propose significant aid for state-owned universities, community colleges, and their students.
It’s also expected that Shapiro will propose moving the 14-state-owned universities and 15 community colleges under a singular governance system.
He hopes it will improve the coordination between schools and limit competition.
Shapiro’s budget address is set for February 6th.
