A state lawmaker is looking to add more oversight to Pennsylvania’s governing body of high school athletics.
State Representative Rob Matzie says he’ll be introducing legislation that would make lawmakers on the state’s Athletic Oversight Committee and the Secretary of Education as voting members of the PIAA.
Matzie said that following last week’s Supreme Court ruling, the PIAA is a governmental entity and that lawmakers should have a voice in shaping its decisions.
The Beaver County lawmaker has been pushing for legislative reforms of the PIAA following their ruling that will keep Aliquippa playing at the 5A classification for football.
