Another heralded pitching prospect is slated to make his Grapefruit League debut this afternoon when the Pittsburgh Pirates travel to Sarasota to face the Baltimore Orioles. Paul Skenes will take the mound opposite 2021 Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes, a former Milwaukee Brewer. Skenes was the Pirates #1 draft pick and the overall top pick last year.
The Detroit Tigers defeated the Pirates 5-3 in Grapefruit League play Wednesday. Quinn Priester made his spring debut for the Bucs and pitched two perfect innings.
