The long-time voice of the Pittsburgh Steelers – Bill Hillgrove announced this morning that he is retiring from the weekly broadcasts. Hillgrove took over as the Steelers lead voice in 1994 following the retirement of Jack Fleming. He was the third-longest tenured play-by-play announcer in the NFL. The 83-year old Hillgrove is currently in his 56th season broadcasting the Pitt men’s basketball games, and reportedly will remain as the play-by-play announcer of the Pitt Panthers.
