The Butler Area School District is beginning the process of hiring a new administrator.
At Monday’s meeting, the Butler school board approved a personnel report that included the resignation of Julie Hopp as the district’s Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development effective August 9th due to relocating.
Hopp joined Butler in December of 2017 to provide leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional services, federal programs, and other research. Both internal and external candidates will be considered with no definitive timeline for filling the position.
According to Superintendent Dr. Brian White this is an important position.
“I think it’s important to be patient to find the right person for a role like this, instead of rushing and filling a hole,” White said. “This is a leadership position that cuts across all buildings, works with all of our instructional members, and has to have a positive rapport and be respected by all of them. So finding the right person is crucial.”
Former McQuistion Elementary Principal Carrie Morgan-Davis was named to the position of Assistant Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Development last June.
