Pitt’s Blake Hinson was named to first-team All-ACC honors Monday, the third player in Panthers program history to receive the honor. Hinson averaged just under 19 points per game this season and set the Pitt all-time three-point mark. Bub Carrington received an ACC honorable mention and was named to the ACC All-Rookie team. Ishmael Leggett was named the league’s best sixth-man, the second straight season the Panthers have achieved that award. After winning the ACC Coach of the Year, Jeff Capel was runner-up this season. Hubert Davis of North Carolina won the award. The Tar Heels enter the ACC tournament as the top seed this week.
Pitt will play in the ACC quarterfinals Thursday at 2:30pm.
The top three in men’s college basketball remain the same this week in the latest Associated Press poll with Houston at #1, followed by defending national champion UConn and Purdue. North Carolina jumped to #4 this week ahead of Tennessee who fell to #5.
Undefeated South Carolina and Iowa hold the top two spots in the women’s poll.
