Duquesne defeated VMU to win the Atlantic 10 title Sunday and in doing so – made the NCAA tournament for the first time in 47 years. The Dukes will meet BYU Thursday afternoon at 12:40pm in Omaha, Nebraska.
The men’s top seeds were defending champion UConn, Houston, Purdue and North Carolina.
The Pitt basketball team fell 72-65 Friday to North Carolina in the ACC semifinals. North Carolina State upset North Carolina to win the ACC championship Saturday.
Pitt was left out of the NCAA tournament – and refused an NIT invitation.
Pittsburgh is one of the host cities for First and Second Round games this week. Matchups being featured at PPG Paints Arena:
–North Carolina State vs. Texas Tech, Kentucky & Oakland from the South Region of the bracket, Oregon meeting South Carolina and Creighton vs. Akron in the First Round of the Midwest Region bracket.
The top women’s tournament seeds are South Carolina, Iowa, USC and Texas.
