With the hiring of a new staff member Penn State Extension will now offer support to dog breeders.
Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences recently hired Abby Hodder as assistant Clinical Professor of canine behavioral welfare in the department of Animal Science. The hiring of Hodder begins Penn State Extensions canine program to support dog breeders.
The program is available to both private and commercial breeders regardless of goals. The program will advocate for care that is more than basic needs such as food, water, and cleanliness.
In person workshops will begin this October along with individual consultations.
Hodder said she would like to develop relationships with schools that have similar programs such as Ohio State and Purdue.
