Mitch Keller tossed his second career complete game in a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels last night at PNC Park. Edward Olivares accounted for all of the Pirates runs, with a grand slam in the third inning off former Pirate Tyler Anderson. Olivares and Bryan Reynolds had four of the teams five hits in the game.
Keller allowed just a solo home run in the sixth inning. He gave up five hits while walking one and striking out five.
The Bucs and Angels play again tonight at 6:40pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 6:15pm.
Quinn Priester will start for the Pirates tonight. He is 0-2 with a 3.31 ERA this season, but the Pirates have failed to a score in each of his three outings.
The two teams play an early Thursday afternoon game to complete their series. The Pirates have Thursday off, then host the Chicago Cubs for three games this weekend. It will be the first of 10 consecutive games against division opponents.
The Pirates are now 17-19 this season and have moved into a third-place tie with Cincinnati in the National League Central.
