Local residents are invited to help those in need through a food drive beginning this week.
The Advance Practice Providers at Independence Health System are holding a donation drive to support the HIS Food Institute Monday through Friday.
Essential food and supplies are being collected in bins at multiple HIS locations including Butler then donated to the institute where people who are referred to the program can meet with a nutrition liaison and receive food shares.
Items needed include unsalted or low sodium products like canned vegetables, soup, whole wheat pasta, low sugar cereal, light mayonnaise, and peanut butter. Utensils and paper products are also being collected. All donations can be dropped off in the marked bin at the Tower and Brady Street entrance through Friday.
