A newly signed law will see victims of data breaches given free credit monitoring.
The Breach of Personal Information Notification Act requires businesses and organizations to notify the state Attorney General’s office if there is a data breach of more than 500 individuals.
Those impacted by the breach will be given a free credit report once a month for a six-month period and credit monitoring services for one year.
The law passed the house and senate without a single no vote and will take effect in the next 90 days.
