Gas prices are edging up locally but remaining mostly even across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of Monday, increased by two cents to reach $3.73 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole remained steady at $3.76. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.60, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.92.
The average national gas price increased by a penny over the past week to reach $3.50. This is five cents more than a month ago and three cents less than one year ago. The price of oil dropped slightly even with the potential of Tropical Storm Beryl to affect production on the Gulf coast.
