Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez won the All-Star Home Run Derby last night, with a 14-13 win over Bobby Witt, Jr. of the Kansas City Royals in the final round. The 31-year old Hernandez hit a total of 49 home runs over the three rounds. He is the first Dodgers player to win the event. Hernandez eliminated Philadelphia’s Alec Bohm in the semifinals 16-15 through a tie-breaker. Witt had knocked out Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez 17-12 in the semifinals. The New York Mets’ Pete Alonso fell short in his bid to join Ken Griffey Jr. as a three-time derby champion when he hit only 12 homers in the first round.
