Demolition is underway on a former local restaurant that was destroyed by fire earlier this year.
W. Rick’s Taproom and Grill on Meridian Road has been vacant since February but crews were busy tearing down the structure Tuesday.
Some delay was caused by a report that needed to be done last month about asbestos and DEP mandated protective measures. Butler Township officials then issued the demolition permit soon after. The property could be cleared in a couple days.
The Reiber family purchased the restaurant in 1998—renaming it W. Rick’s Taproom and Grill. The establishment has served as a staple in the Meridian area, previously as the Meridian Inn and J.D.’s Pub.
