A couple local educational institutions are receiving state funding to go toward special education training.
According to State Representative Tim Bonner, a nearly $20,000 grant will be awarded to Slippery Rock University as well as another of a nearly equal amount for the Slippery Rock School District.
This money allows the development or expansion of experiential learning opportunities to engage secondary or college students to learn about working with students with disabilities in special education.
Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV has also been awarded a $20,000 grant for special education certification programs.
