The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania will begin getting school supplies ready today for a number of students across the area.
Around 150 volunteers will be unloading and sorting school supplies today to distribute to 30 school districts in the five-county Pittsburgh region. Officials say around 10,000 students in kindergarten through 2nd grade will receive the school supplies.
The program is known as “Tools for Schools” and it has donated supplies to 50,000 students over the last five years.
The United Way partners with First National Bank to help fund the program.
