Several local schools will be receiving funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to help improve safety.
The School Safety and Security Committee has designated awards of nearly $233,000 for Seneca Valley School District as well as nearly $215,000 for Butler Area School District for addressing security gaps and improving mental health resources.
Mars Area School District will receive over $164,000, Slippery Rock Area and Knoch School Districts will each collect about $136,000, Karns City Area School District $124,000, Moniteau School District $122,000, and the Butler Vo-Tech $70,000.
A total of nearly $20 million has been awarded to education agencies across the state for school safety improvements in this most recent awarding of School Safety and Security Grants.
