Due to the strong snow storms today PennDOT has made some road restriction announcements.
There will be two levels of restrictions tier two and three. Tier two applies to the following vehicles:
- Tractors without trailers.
- Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank trailers.
- Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem trailers.
- Tractors towing loaded tandem trailers without chains or Alternate Traction Devices (ATDs).
- Enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks/box trucks that meet the definition of a CMV.
- Passenger vehicles, towing trailers, Recreational vehicles/motorhomes, and Motorcycles.
- School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches, regardless of the availability of trains or ATDs.
The Tier 2 restrictions will be for Interstate 80 from the Ohio border to mile marker 173 (Lamar exit, Route 64).
Tier 3 restrictions are for commercial vehicles except loaded single trailers with chains or approved Alternate Traction Devices. This will apply to, I-90 the entire length, I-86 the entire length, and I-79 north of I-80.
