The Slippery Rock University football team defeated California 31-13 Saturday to win the Super Region-1 championship and have reached the national semifinals of the NCAA Division II tournament. The Rock will visit Ferris State this Saturday for a 3:30pm kick-off in Michigan. Hear the game on The Rock Station 97.7fm.
Valdosta State and Minnesota State meet in the other Division II semifinal.
#3-ranked Penn State fell 45-37 to #1-ranked Oregon Saturday night in the Big Ten championship. The Nittany Lions will open the College Football Playoff with a home game against SMU December 21st at noon. Penn State was given the #6-seed in the CFP. SMU is the #11-seed after losing 34-31 to Clemson in the ACC championship Saturday.
Clemson enters as the #12-seed and will visit #5 Texas also on December 21st.
Other games: #9-Tennessee will visit #8-Ohio State. #10-Indiana will visit #7-Notre Dame on December 20th. Oregon, Georgia, Boise State and Arizona State received first-round “byes”.
