The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team defeated Pitt-Johnstown 90-74 last night at Morrow Field House. The Rock won their seventh game in a row, improving to 9-6 overall and 6-2 in the PSAC. Jomo Goings led SRU with 22 points and 12-rebounds in a double-double effort. Maceo Austin added 21 points and Day Waters added 20 points off the bench. The Rock came back from a 37-31 halftime deficit to win by 16.
They travel to California Wednesday.
The Rock women also topped UP-J 71-58. SRU is now 6-7 overall and 4-4 in PSAC play.
The Pitt men’s basketball team will visit #4-ranked Duke tonight. Tip-off is 7pm in Durham, North Carolina. Both teams enter the game 12-2 this season. The Panthers are 3-0 in the ACC. The Blue Devils are 4-0.
The Pitt men remain just outside of the top-25 this week. West Virginia, who were defeated by Pitt 86-62 in November, have entered the top-25 this week at #21. The Mountaineers have three wins against top-25 teams this season.
