The state has issued grant funding to allow counties to pay for attracting and training municipal law enforcement.
The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, or PCCD, awarded grants to Butler County in the amount of $41,000 to support seven officers.
This funding comes through Law Enforcement Recruitment Incentive solicitations, with a goal of addressing pressing public safety and the hiring shortage of police officers in Pennsylvania.
A total of over $3 million has been disbursed across the state to help with filling nearly 700 vacant positions.
