A man from Connecticut has been charged after he allegedly stole thousands of dollars by stealing someone’s identity.
Police charged 57-year-old George Burek for withdrawing $8,900 out of a man’s account at the United Federal Credit Union in Jackson Township.
It’s alleged on December 13, Burek was able to withdraw the money from the account using identification cards that matched the victim’s information.
Burek is alleged to be a part of a criminal organization that is known for committing “customer impersonation crimes. ” The alleged leader of the group, 63-year-old Luis Cuascut, was charged in Butler last month. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail on charges in Allegheny and was denied bail.
Burek has been charged with crimes in Pennsylvania and Michigan. In Butler he’s facing several charges such as identity theft, criminal attempt, and forgery.
