
A major medical provider in Western Pennsylvania has once again announced they operated at a loss in the last year.
UPMC announced a $338.9 million operating loss for 2024, which is higher than their 2023 operating loss of $198.3 million.
The healthcare provider reported $29.9 billion of revenue in the last year against operating expenses of $30.1 billion.
UPMC says that increased medical use and rising pharmacy costs is the reason for the increased operating loss.
When accounting for nonoperating items the Healthcare system, reported a net loss of $14.7 million, an improvement over 2023’s $30.1 million loss.
