Mt. Lebanon native Neal Shipley won the LECOM Suncoast Classic in Lakewood Ranch, Florida on Saturday with a 38-foot birdie putt on the fifth playoff hole for his first victory on the Korn Ferry Tour. The event was his eighth on the tour after turning professional less than a year ago. The victory gave the Central Catholic graduate full exemption on the tour for the remainder of the year and moves him up to third place on that tour’s points list. The top-20 players on that points list at the end of the season, earn automatic exemption to the PGA Tour in 2026.
Justin Thomas won his first PGA Tour event in three years Sunday when he defeated in a one-hole playoff with Andrew Novak at the RBC Heritage Classic in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Both players had completed the tournament in regulation at 17-under par. Thomas last won in May of 2022, when he captured the PGA Championship.
