
Pennsylvania’s top law enforcement official is encouraging residents to take precautions as scammers could to try to take advantage of recent storms.
According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, some scammers offer home repairs following trees that have fallen on structures.
Residents are advised to verify registration of potential contractors through the attorney general’s website or by calling toll free 1-888-520-6680 before committing to services. Consumers can also obtain multiple bids for the job, request references, and check for complaints with the Better Business Bureau.
Anyone who believes that they may have been a victim of this kind of scam is asked to contact the Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
