The Pirates will have two representatives in the All-Star Futures Game July 12th in Atlanta: Infielder Konnor Griffin and outfielder Esmerlyn Valdez. Griffin was the Pirates first-round draft pick last year, who had tremendous success at Low-A Bradenton before continued his torrid hitting after a promotion to High-A Greensboro in early June. He has 12 homers and 48 RBIs between the two levels, leads the minors with 67 runs scored and has reached base in 28 consecutive games. Valdez was promoted to Double-A Altoona Monday. He ranks second in the minors with 20 home runs and was leading the South Atlantic League in batting average and seven other categories.
