Nascar announced Wednesday that the annual “Clash” exhibition race will return to the Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the second straight year. The season-opening race will be staged February 1st. Chase Elliott won this year’s Cup Series return to the historic stadium quarter-mile track for the first time since 1971.
The track, which has been home to the Winston-Salem State University football team, was built in 1937 and held Cup Series races from 1958 to 1971. Weekly racing still occurs at the track.
