A Butler man has been charged and placed in prison after he allegedly assaulted a police officer while eluding arrest.
The incident happened Monday at the corner of North Bluff and West Locust Streets in Butler when officers say they saw a man on a bicycle hit parked car with a guitar.
When the man was approached by police he gave false information and soon ran from the scene. After cutting through yards and fighting with police, officers caught 45-year-old Richard Brown.
While police chased Brown, he also allegedly fought with officers and broke an officer’s nose.
Brown been charged with assault of a law enforcement officer and three counts of evading arrest. He’s being held on $50,000 bond and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 21.
