Pennsylvania American Water is notifying some local residents that it is addressing some taste and odor issues.
The company recently issued a statement concerning some customers in Butler City, East Butler, and Saxonburg as well as Butler, Center, Oakland, Penn, and Summit Townships noticing an earthy smell or musty taste.
This is as a result of hot weather and a naturally occurring algae bloom in Lake Oneida which is a source of local drinking water.
PA American Water emphasizes that the current condition does not pose a health threat and they recently altered their treatment process to increase the use of carbon in order to address this issue.
