A ruling in a murder case will allow the public defender’s office to pay for a potential expert, but it did not rule on if they would be allowed to testify.
37-year-old Sean Williams of Butler is accused of killing 47-year-old Christopher Waggett of Butler after the two got into an argument in November 2024.
On Friday, attorneys for Williams argued for funding already in possession of the public defender’s office to be used to hire Emanuel Kapelsohn, a firearm tactics and use of force expert.
The motion for the funding needed was approved but Judge Joseph Kubit did not rule on if Kapelsohn will be able to provide testimony for the trial.
No trial date has been set.
