After a mistrial was declared in a murder case earlier this year, a plea agreement was reached and sentencing was finalized earlier this week.
38-year-old Hassan Brack was accused of shooting and killing a man in the City of Butler in December 2021.
Following the mistrial, Brack has now pled guilty to murder of the third degree in the death of 31-year-old Hakeem Morgan during an alleged drug deal. Brack was sentenced to eight to 40 years in prison with 809 days served.
District Attorney Rich Goldinger said there was “material witness issues” that led to the decision to reach a plea agreement instead of retrying Brack. Judge Timothy McCune called for a quick sentencing and Brack was sentenced Monday morning after a plea was reached Friday.
