A Butler man is facing charges after he allegedly had a sexual relationship with a child.
In April, a 13-year-old reported that they had sex with 29-year-old James Reed in exchange for marijuana.
According to charging documents, Reed had a relationship with the child before the alleged assaults at Reed’s home in the City of Butler.
When police asked Reed why the child would accuse him of the crime he stated “maybe it’s because I’ve been telling [their] mom how bad [they’ve] been lately.”
Reed has been charged with six counts of statutory sexual assault, indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age, corruption of minors, and seven counts of indecent assault without consent.
Reed is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
