Changes on how to acquire SNAP benefits became official in Pennsylvania due to federal legislation yesterday.
In July, President Donald Trump signed the Big Beautiful Bill which added new regulations to acquire SNAP benefits.
Recipients 18 to 54 years-old who do not have a dependent child under 18 and are considered physically and mentally able to work, will now need to meet new requirements.
In order to receive benefits recipients will now need to provide documentation of at least 20 hours a week (80 each month) of working, volunteering, or participating in an education or training program.
In November, more changes will be coming including removing an exemption for veterans, the homeless, or a current or former foster youth ages 18 to 24.
