A Fenelton man is facing charges after it’s alleged he crashed his truck on purpose to collect the insurance.
Charging documents say 22-year-old Matthew Boyle intentionally crashed his vehicle in August 2024. Police say Boyle shared video of the crash with his girlfriend, along with a text message admitting to the crime.
Investigators also allege that Boyle knew he owed more money on the truck than what it was worth, so Boyle didn’t consider selling the truck as an option. The insurance company paid out over $15,000.
Boyle has been charged with theft by deception and a false insurance claim. He’s waiting a preliminary hearing.
