A local group is seeking volunteers willing to help with a project to support those in need.
The Makers Market and Events Center at the Clearview Mall has a goal of making 100 handmade recycled plastic mats by the end of October.
The mats are being created using recycled plastic bags, crocheted or woven on looms, and will be donated to those in need such as the homeless to be used for sleeping mats or pillows.
Currently, seven mats are complete, and volunteers are welcome to help from home or at the shop which is open 1 to 5 p.m. today as well as 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Supplies and instructions are provided, and all skill levels are welcome.
