A Butler man is in the Butler County Prison after allegedly attempting to throw a lighter into a police cruiser.
The incident happened last Monday when 32-year-old Shane Everetts allegedly blocked a police patrol vehicle while it was driving along South Main Street in the City of Butler around 9:30 p.m.
Officers asked Everetts to move, however he refused and asked to be taken to the hospital. When officers offered to take him, Everetts allegedly ran around the vehicle, opened the gas tank cover, pulled out a lighter, and lit the lighter.
Police took him down and placed him custody.
He was charged with aggravated arson, recklessly endangering another person, and more. Everetts has been placed in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bond as he awaits a preliminary hearing.
