State lawmakers in Pennsylvania are proposing new legislation for background checks to acquire a gun.
Current state law does not require background checks for the purchase of long guns. New legislation proposed would change that.
The bill’s memo calls the current state law a loophole.
The proposed law will close all loopholes by simple requiring background checks for all guns.
After passing through the house judiciary committee along party lines, the bill is now eligible for a vote on the house floor.
State Representative Stephenie Scialabba who sits on the house judiciary committee voted against the bill.
